Tom Palumbo

Tom Palumbo

“Images from Paris cafés and nightlife in 1962, the same week Yves St. Laurent’s runway show vaulted Dior to new heights.

Many scenes around Les Halles (which no longer exists as it did then).”

Tom Palumbo was an Italian-born American photographer whom mainly worked in commercial and fashion photography. The above photohgraphs, as per the quote, were taken in Paris during 1962. I love the unusal subject matter of a lot of these photographs; the fishermen from La Halle, the poodle and the brie. The moments captured are not usual subjects, especially for the time when photography was seen as practical medium. I also love the film-still quality and suggestion of movment and the timelessness of the moods and the feelings portrayed.
