Piero Fornasetti

Piero Fornasetti

Another artist I came across while visiting the Walker Gallery in Liverpool was Piero Fornasetti. I had seen his work before but had never put a name to the art and finally seeing in a display was a pleasant surprise. They only had a single dinner plate on display, but when I returned home I did some online research and came up with a wealth of information and images. His work was not limited to dinner plates, though these are his most popular works, and ranged to fabric, decorative objects, wallpaper and my favourite, furniture.

I love the cheekiness and sense of humour that is instilled in many of the pieces, and his use of graphic black & white. Even though I’m very much a lover of colour, I like to see how simple black and white can be implimented so well in a way that catches my eye.
