London – Day Two pt. II – Delicious Magazine

In between the meetings at It’s nice that and DDB Adam&Eve, I had a visit with Delicious Magazine, a food and recipe magazine. I arrived at the Eye to Eye media building and was greeted by both Naomi and Martine, the art director and art editor respectively – they were two very lovely ladies. We started by discussing my university background, the background of the magazine and well, a little bit of everything it seems.

We went over my portfolio, including the greeting cards I had kept separately. There was no focus on my portfolio portfolio layout as with Sainsbury’s, but rather they spent the time looking at my work, asking questions about how it came about. They both said they loved my work and that it was beautiful, which was nice. They said though illustration is currently not used much (once every issue or two), it’s becoming more of a trend again and they see a place for my work in their magazine and others. They of course, wanted to see more food illustration from me (which I am currently working on and planning on emailing over when done). Naomi also sent me a list of several Art Directors from various magazines she’d think would be interested in my work and that my work would be relevant for, which was a lovely vote of confidence. I plan on emailing them all shortly, once I’ve made a few tweaks to my portfolio and have added some new ideas/work that I have in mind.

Overall, another very (much needed) positive experience and I walked away with a copy of their magazine with a load of new recipes to try. 😉
