8×8 & Music

8×8 & Music

Last years book, 7×7. Image from Ill-us-tra-shun.

Over the Easter holidays (two weeks of which I’m half way through), we were assigned a brief to work on. The brief, entitled “8×8” is a collaboration with Creative Writing students from Manchester Metropolitan University in which they write the stories and we do the accompanying illustrations. The works will be printed into a book and sold at the Didsbury Art Festival sometime later in the year. The brief itself is competitive (there are a few of us working on each story and the best will be chosen), so I cannot really indulge my ideas here until after the deadline, but I may share some techniques and influences as I work on it.

We also have  a second brief running along side the 8×8, with the aim of having some work presented in the Manchester design studio Music, which once again is competitive. For this, I’m working with the ubertalented Paul Underhill and Dominique Byron as it’s a rather large undertaking for just one person. When we actually have something to share, I will definitely do so.

So that’s what I’m up to for the next couple of weeks and why I’m unable to share too much at the moment. In case you were wondering.
